Autumn Cleaning – our professional cleaning top tips

With mornings becoming colder and darker, it’s harder to pull ourselves out of bed! That’s why it’s more important than ever to ensure you have a clean and inviting office or workspace to arrive at. Our team at Clean4Shaw are fully trained in providing high-end domestic and commercial cleaning, and this blog shares our top 7 Autumn professional cleaning tips, to keep you on top of things.

Wipe your windows

Window cleaning can seem like a big job, and in some cases it is. But as the weather becomes wetter and windier, your external windows get covered in debris and water stains. By taking the time to clean both your internal and external windows, you improve first impressions, show your colleagues you care about their working environment, and keep your windows in pristine condition.

Deep clean your floors

Floors will naturally receive daily footfall, compacting and scuffing its surface and creating a worn, tired look. Autumn also means wet and dirty footprints, as well as your floors being the victim to food and drink spillages. Spillages should be cleaned straight away to avoid slip hazards and avoid them becoming permanent stains that’ll cost more to remove. We also recommend daily mopping and hoovering, and monthly deep carpet cleaning to keep your floors fresh.

Don’t forget your desks

Desks and seating areas are prime locations for crumbs to gather. It’s also where hand-to-mouth infections are highest due to people touching their face, coughing or sneezing and not cleaning their hands properly. Encourage your team to clean their desks at the end of the day, this is particularly important if you’re hot desking, and ensure there’s plenty of tissues and hand sanitiser available.

Boost your bathroom sanitation

Harmful bacteria forms in bathrooms: on toilet seats, flush handles, taps and door handles, and if not cleaned thoroughly can potentially result in spreading illnesses and colleagues being off sick. These areas should be cleaned and disinfected daily. You should be providing plenty of soap and functional drying facilities too – not only is this a duty of care, but it’s also nice for both staff and visitors.

Dust your electronics

This is often a forgotten area, but a build-up of dust and dirt can creep into your electronics and slow them down, potentially causing breakages and resulting in business downtime. By taking the time to correctly clean and dust your electronics, you can ensure they’re performing efficiently.

Clean your kitchens

Messy chefs and diners cause a lot of spillages which, if not cleaned immediately, can result in unhygienic surfaces, unpleasant smells and potential slippages. Crumbs that fall and get caught under cupboards or appliances can collect and attract unwanted pests too, resulting in a much bigger problem.
