What Is Included in a Professional Office Cleaning Service?

A professional office cleaning service covers the everyday tasks needed to keep your workplace clean, tidy and hygienic. This will usually include cleaning desks and shared surfaces, vacuuming or mopping floors, emptying bins and looking after kitchens, washrooms and communal areas.

The exact service will depend on the size of your office, how many people use it and how often cleaning is needed. A small office may only require a few visits each week, while a larger or busier workplace may need daily cleaning.

What Does a Typical Office Clean Include?

Most regular office cleaning plans cover the main working areas, including desks, meeting rooms, reception spaces and shared facilities.

Cleaners will usually dust and wipe accessible surfaces, vacuum carpets, mop hard floors, empty bins and remove visible marks from doors, tables and other office furniture.

Frequently touched areas such as door handles, light switches, handrails, shared phones and kitchen appliance handles may also be disinfected as part of the clean.

Personal paperwork and belongings will normally be left in place unless agreed otherwise. Some businesses use a clear desk policy on cleaning days so cleaners can reach more of the workstation.

Kitchens, Washrooms and Shared Areas

Office kitchens and breakout spaces can quickly become untidy, particularly in busy workplaces. Regular cleaning may include wiping worktops, cleaning sinks and taps, wiping the outside of appliances, emptying bins and cleaning tables and floors.

Washroom cleaning will usually include toilets, sinks, mirrors, cubicle doors and floors. Agreed supplies such as toilet roll, soap and paper towels can also be checked and refilled.

Cleaning inside fridges, ovens or other appliances may not form part of the regular service, but these tasks can often be added when needed.

Floors, Glass and Windows

Vacuuming carpets and mopping hard floors will usually be included in a standard office clean. However, deeper treatments such as carpet cleaning, stain removal, machine scrubbing or floor polishing are normally arranged separately.

Internal glass doors and partitions may be cleaned during regular visits, while full internal or external window cleaning is often scheduled as an additional service.

What Is Not Usually Included?

Specialist or occasional tasks are unlikely to be included in a basic office clean unless they have been agreed in advance.

This may include:

These services can still be worked into your schedule, whether they are needed monthly, quarterly or as a one-off.
